Translation

Hi there! Alongside my journalism, I also do translation work and am currently open to new projects.

For nearly ten years, I’ve been working as an independent English-to-Spanish and Spanish-to-English translator on a variety of projects, with a strong focus on journalism. I’ve translated for news organizations such as Illinois Answers Project, Injustice Watch, South Side Weekly, The Chicago Reader, and Chalkbeat.

To me, translation is more than just swapping words between languages—it’s about capturing the heart of the message and respecting the idioms, metaphors, and cultural nuances that make each language unique. The right tone, cultural insight, and style are key to creating a translation that resonates and truly connects with people.

Beyond journalism, my experience spans translating book reviews, marketing materials, white papers, case studies, annual reports, video scripts, and communications copy. Past and current clients include public schools, nonprofits, universities, and financial institutions.

If you’re looking for high-quality Spanish translations that bridge cultures and maintain the integrity of your work, I’d love to hear from you! My email is almacampos@proton.me.
